Does Your Yard Have a Landscaping Theme?

Three Ways That Land Clearing Promotes Safety

by Dan Mckinney

There are many benefits of hiring a local land clearing service to cut down trees, tear up brush, and otherwise clear a significant percentage of an overgrown piece of land. While you might struggle to some degree with the idea of getting rid of some or all of the trees on your land, it's important to realize that doing so can be highly valuable when it comes to the safety of your home and your family. Here are three ways that clearing your land promotes safety.

Reducing The Risk Of Forest Fires

Certain parts of the country are highly susceptible to large-scale forest fires because of their dry climate. If you live in such an area and feel concerned about this risk, land clearing is something that you should think about. When you have trees that stand immediately around your home and there's a fire in the nearby forest, the likelihood of the fire spreading from the trees to your residence is high. However, when there are large gaps of space between the nearest trees and your home, the home should have less of a chance of catching fire.

Discouraging Prowlers

Overgrown properties can sometimes be desirable to criminals. A criminal who wishes to break into a house knows that they can lurk in the woods at the edge of a residential lot to determine whether or not the homeowner is home. From this vantage point, the homeowner may have trouble spotting this individual—especially at night—and neighbors and passing motorists may also not be able to see them either. When your lot is clear, criminals won't have any places to hide. This may prompt them to leave your home alone, keeping you, your family, and your belongings safe.

Keeping Pests At Bay

There are all sorts of pests that prefer wooded environments over those without trees. By clearing the trees from your yard, you'll keep many of these pests at bay, which can help to keep you and your family safe. For example, bees and wasps often build their nests in trees. If your property doesn't have any trees, there's less of a risk of these flying pests having a nest near where your children play. This is especially important is one of your children is allergic to stings.
