Does Your Yard Have a Landscaping Theme?

Want a Better Landscape? Two Reasons to Decorate Your Yard With Rock

by Dan Mckinney

Regardless of how beautiful your home may be, the condition of your yard can make or break the overall curb appeal. Neatly trimmed hedges and wave after wave of green, luscious grass works wonders when you want the property to look as amazing as possible. Maybe you've been struggling to attain the yard you see in your imagination, but it just doesn't seem to be happening. Perhaps the grass is brittle or weeds tend to grow unchecked no matter how hard you try. Take a look at how you can turn it all around by decorating your yard with landscape rocks.

More Rocks = Less Maintenance

The people you see who have fantastic yards likely spend a great deal of time maintaining them. It takes work to till the soil so the nutrients are there. Watering the grass every day is not only a tedious task but one that can also cause your utility costs to soar through the roof.

Take a load off of your own plate by using landscape rocks. You can place a large piece of landscape fabric down over the grass and cover it in rocks in strategic places. Maybe there are a few spots that seem to grow very well while others are so unsightly you would like them to remain unseen. The rocks do the work for you and since they require little to no maintenance, which may allow you to spend your weekends engaging in the activities and hobbies you truly enjoy.

Cut Down On Pests With Landscape Rocks

If bugs and critters tend to be a problem in your yard, putting down rocks may be able to help. Foliage is often a hotbed for insects because it provides the perfect source of food for beetles, crickets, flies, and weevils. Rocks tend to act as a natural repellent to these bugs because you will no longer have a buffet in your front and back yard. Keep the rocks down for an extended period, and you may finally find out why your grass never seemed to grow beyond a certain point:  The insects were nibbling away at the blades the entire time!

Landscape rocks come in a dazzling array of shades and sizes, so don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild. Go with large boulders around the perimeters, and spice up your walkways with tiny, colorful pebbles. The end result will hopefully be everything you always hoped it would be.
